Is my Duramax regenerating?

Regenerating: keep drivingRunning for 12 min. Don't shut the engine off until it finishes.

Your dash usually won't tell you. Your engine computer will. Regen Monitor reads it through a Bluetooth OBD-II adapter and alerts you when a regen starts, finishes or gets cut short, even with your phone in your pocket.

Coming soon to the App Store

For 2020+ Chevrolet Silverado & GMC Sierra with the 3.0L Duramax or 6.6L L5P ยท Bluetooth LE adapter with 29-bit CAN required, not included ยท Read-only

๐Ÿ”ฅ Live regen status

Not regenerating, regenerating, ending, or finished. Read from the engine computer every couple of seconds while you drive. Free.

๐Ÿ”” Alerts with the phone locked

A notification when a regen starts, when it finishes, and when one gets cut short, so you know not to shut the truck off at the fuel pump.

๐Ÿ“ Miles since the last regen

How far you've driven since the last regen, against your truck's own usual interval. You can see the next one coming.

๐Ÿ“‹ Regen log

Every regen with its length and how it ended: completed, interrupted, or switched off. Regens that happened while the phone wasn't connected are caught from the truck's own counter.

๐Ÿ“‰ Intervals shrinking?

An interval chart against your truck's average, and a warning when regens keep coming sooner than usual.

๐Ÿ”’ Read-only

Regen Monitor only reads. It never writes to your truck, never clears codes, never forces a regen and doesn't tune or modify anything.

Why it matters

Your diesel particulate filter (DPF) catches soot. Every few hundred miles the truck burns it off by running the filter at around 550โ€“650 ยฐC (1,000โ€“1,200 ยฐF): an active regeneration. A regen that is cut short (you shut the truck off, park, or idle at a drive-through) leaves soot behind. Cut enough of them short and the filter loads up: more regens, worse mileage, and eventually a warning light and a trip to the dealer.

Most of the time the truck doesn't say a regen is running. Owners guess from the signs instead:

Regen Monitor replaces the guessing with the engine computer's own numbers.

How it works

  1. Plug in a Bluetooth LE OBD-II adapter under the dash. It must support 29-bit CAN; see the adapter guide.
  2. Run the free check. The app confirms the adapter reaches your Duramax's engine computer before you pay anything. No adapter yet? Try the demo truck.
  3. Drive. Watch the status live (free), or unlock alerts, counters and the regen log.

Pay once

The engine check, live regen status and the demo truck are free. Unlock adds alerts with the phone locked, miles since the last regen against your usual interval, completed regens, filter pressure, the regen log and unlimited trucks, for a one-time $14.99. No subscription.
